ZA Letter to the Community
February 2009
Greetings everyone,
As of 2008, the Zimfest Association Board of Directors has been meeting monthly. We would like to periodically update the community as to what we are working on for the future of the organization, the festival, and our efforts to give back to Zimbabwe.
The Zimfest 2008 committee has finished their finances, returning their seed money and profit to the Zimfest Association (a total of $6130). We took some of the revenue from the festival and made donations to Ancient Ways, Mbira, Tariro, and the Dispatch Foundation. Each organization received $1125. The Dispatch Foundation donation was split 50/50 between Elias Fund (Chiredzi) and Forgotten Voices (Bulawayo) projects. The Foundation matched this donation, enabling $1125 to go to each of the projects.
We have revised Zimfest Association's grants and donations policy to further align with the organization's mission, goals, values, and bylaws. We will be accepting grant applications from individuals and organizations that are working toward similar goals as Zimfest Association. For more information, see ZA Grant and Donation Guidelines.
As you have seen from the e-mails, planning for Zimfest 2009 is well underway and looks like it will be an amazing festival. We hope you can make it!
We are currently looking for a community to sponsor Zimfest 2010. Please contact the Zimfest Association if your community has an interest in coming together and hosting a festival. (board [at] zimfest {dot} org)
