Why Become a Member

Zimfest is the largest annual gathering in North America celebrating Zimbabwean music and culture. Students, teachers, performers, and fans of the rich cultural traditions of Zimbabwe and beyond gather each year to share their excitement and passion for the music, dance, stories and people of Zimbabwe. Zimfest encompasses the diverse aspects of Zimbabwean culture and encourages a wider perspective through education, performance, and instruction with an "everyone-can-participate" spirit.

Volunteers have been the organizers of Zimfest since 1991. In 1999, a not-for-profit organization, Zimfest Association, was created to better support the annual festival and to give back to the Zimbabwean communities who have so generously shared their culture. Zimfest workshop and registration fees and concert ticket sales, along with occasional donations and small grants, have historically provided the funds used to produce each annual festival, to provide administrative continuity, and to donate to organizations benefiting Zimbabweans.

In 2009, the Zimfest Association Board of Directors amended the Association Bylaws to create a membership organization as a new way for our community to support Zimfest and Zimbabwean music and culture. By becoming a member of Zimfest Association, individuals and families can support the long-term viability of Zimfest. If you enjoy Zimfest and learning about Zimbabwean culture, please consider becoming a member of Zimfest Association! Help spread the word about the music and joy of Zimbabwean culture.

Your membership contributions will help assure that we are able to continue to produce an annual festival, and will support the growth and fellowship of Zimbabwean artists in the international music community. Each festival, in turn, offers opportunities for cultural exchange in the hosting community. We feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to share Zimbabwean music and culture with a wider community. Please join us! Play and dance and sing and laugh... and we hope you have fun!

Membership Now Has Benefits!

Now when you join Zimfest Association at the Regular level, you will be able to waive your registration fee for the next Zimfest.
