Call for Entries: In anticipation of Zimfest 2009 in Boulder, Colorado, ZimArt 2009 is seeking two and three-dimensional works pertaining to the music, art, and culture of Zimbabwe. This can include paintings, photography, textiles, musical instruments, sculpture, audio-visuals, poetry, and historical or artistic artifacts. Be creative with your submission! Non-traditional items such as personal travel photos, music, and video will be considered for use in a multimedia presentation. No entry fee.

Submission Deadline: Jan. 15, 2009

Digital submissions only accepted (please read carefully):

  • Include contact information, including name, mailing address, email address, telephone, and website address (if applicable).
  • Submit one to three jpg images of each art piece or object (there is no submission limit).
  • Clearly identify each entry with your last name, image title, and number. (e.g. Smith_Mbira Watercolor_1.jpg)
  • Include dimensions and short description of each item.
  • Artist’s Statement may be included with original artwork.
  • Please tell us how you heard about ZimArt 2009 (Dandemutande, Boulder County Arts Alliance, Africa Centre, newspaper, etc.)
  • Email artshow@zimfest.org or send CD with all files to:

Authorization and Liability: Submission of work and application indicates acceptance of conditions stated below:

  • The entrant assumes responsibility of art while on the property of the Boulder Public Library.
  • It is the responsibility of the artist to obtain any necessary releases from identifiable persons represented in a photograph or on film.
  • ZimArt 2009 cannot assume responsibility for the damage or loss of entries in transit.
  • ZimArt 2009 has the right to reproduce any entry for exhibit publicity purposes, including posting accepted entries on the Zimfest.org website.
  • Artist is responsible for costs of shipping to and from the show and insurance (if desired) while in transit as well as while the piece(s) is in the show.
  • Artist may sell art items if s/he chooses. Price and contact info will be placed on the item if requested. All transactions will be between the artist and buyer directly; the library will not take any commission or handle any sales.
