2008 Vendor Information and Application

Greetings! Thanks for your interest in being a market vendor at Zimfest 2008. This page tells you what you need to know.

Market Location

The marketplace this year is located at Red Square, a central gathering place on the PLU campus. This location is also central to almost the entire festival, with the afternoon concert stage in Red Square and the evening concert venue just off to the side. Vendors, this is a unique opportunity to capitalize on heavy foot traffic during the July 4th holiday weekend.

Zimfest Market Criteria

Items to be sold should either be made in Zimbabwe or, if made outside Zimbabwe, should be appropriate to the spirit and intent of Zimfest (instruments, music-related items, etc.).

Market Hours

The market will be open from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm daily on Friday, Saturday and Sunday — July 4, 5 and 6.

Fees

Pacific Lutheran University has a policy for commercial vendors that requires 50% of their net profits must be donated to Zimfest. For that reason, commercial vendors will not be charged a flat fee this year. Non-profit vendors will pay a $20 flat fee for the weekend.

Non-Profit Requirement

All non-profits must have a non-profit tax ID number and be registered in the United States as a non-profit.

Market Display

Vendors need to bring their own shade protection (canopies), although there are some trees around the marketplace area. Each vendor will be provided one 6' x 30" table and two chairs. There will be a one-time $15 charge for an additional table, and a $2 charge for each additional chair. Electricity will be available in the marketplace, but you may need to bring extension cords. Be sure to let us know whether you have display needs beyond what’s provided, and we’ll help if we can.

Security and Storage

A storage room that can be locked will be provided close to the marketplace area. Parking is across the street from the marketplace but you will be able to bring your vehicle in to unload and load.
