2004 Vendor Information and Application

VENDOR APPLICATION DEADLINE: JULY 15

Greetings! Thanks for your interest in being a market vendor at Zimfest 2004.

Marketplace Location    The market has two main locations, both in sight of each other. One will be located on a long patio and walkway alongside the cafeteria facing a grassy quad. The area has a very wide overhang that will protect from either sun or rain. The other area will be out in the grassy quad area under large trees or in the open, as you prefer. The vendors selling musical instruments (marimbas and hosho, for instance) will need space separation from each other and from the other parts of the market and will be located in the open area. Other vendors will be assigned at the discretion of the market coordinator.

Zimfest Market Criteria    Items to be sold should either be made in Zimbabwe or, if made outside Zimbabwe, should be appropriate to the spirit and intent of Zimfest (instruments, music-related items, etc.).

Market Hours    The market will be open from 9:00–6:00 daily on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. 501c(3) organizations will have the option of moving inside to the lobby of Kaul Auditorium during the evening concerts.

Fees    Commercial vendors: $50 flat fee for the weekend plus 10% of sales over $150. 501c(3) organizations: $20 flat fee for the weekend.

Market Display    The fee includes one 8' x 30" table and two chairs which Zimfest will rent from Reed College. There will be a one-time $8 charge for an additional table, and a one-time $6 charge for each additional chair. Electricity can be run out to your table if needed. Carts will be available for moving. Be sure to let us know whether you have display needs beyond what’s provided. We’ll help if we can. If you have a canopy and can bring it, it may come in handy if you’re assigned a space that isn’t under cover.

Security and Storage    When the market closes, vendors can move their wares inside the cafe, which is very close by, next to the cafeteria, and is not in use during the summer. It will be a secure area under lock and key at night. The cafe doors open right onto the patio/walkway for easy access.

Further Information    If you have any questions or concerns about the market, please contact Lynne Swift at lynne@zimfest.org.

Updates    Any new information about the market will be posted on this web page.
