Changes

August 10

Unfortunately, Forward Kwenda was unable to make it to the festival, but we were able to replace his classes. Numerous other workshop changes have been made as well. A few details are still being arranged, but most of them are finished. See the August 10 Update.

July 29

Numerous workshops taught by David Gweshe and Zivanai Masango have been added, and Nicholas Manomano’s classes have been replaced. See the July 29 Update.

July 16

We are excited to announce that David Gweshe and Zivanai Masango will be teaching at Zimfest. Unfortunately, Nicholas Manomano is unable to make it to the festival and we are working to replace his workshops. See the July 16 Update.

June 4

The ending time (and duration) of Tom Scott’s Children’s Introductory Marimba: Manhanga workshop has been changed. It will go from 4:00–5:30, not 4:00–6:30.

Corrections

The print and PDF versions of the Registration Guide include the following errors. (Web pages have been corrected.)

Several workshops should have “This workshop will be taught on marimbas with F#s” at the end of the description. See June 21 Registration Guide Corrections.

Two teacher biographies were mistakenly left out: Stephanie Abels and Marilyn Kolodziejczyk.

Ambuya Beauler Dyoko, Joel Lindstrom, and Cosmas Magaya are available for lessons during Pre-fest.

In Cosmas Magaya’s Intensive: Advanced Mbira workshop, Nyamaropa Chipembere is one song (not two) that might be taught.

In the Festival Schedule (page 5), Session #4, “Introductory Marimba: Kgopotso,” with Jaiaen Beck should be Advanced Beginning Marimba: Kgopotso, not Introductory.

Tom Scott’s Family Introductory Marimba: Manhanga workshop is from 1:00–2:30 pm. In some places, it is incorrectly listed as ending at 3:30

Joel Lindstrom’s workshop INTENSIVE: Advanced Marimba: Nyamamusango: Techniques for Variation and Interaction was incorrectly listed as intermediate level.
